ヒエロニムス・ボス（Hieronymus Bosch, ca. 1450-1516)は、絵画「快楽の園」によって、ヨーロッパ中世の恐れや希望、ファンタジーを描いた記念碑的作品を作り上げました。彼が生きた時代と文化のなかの人々、また当時の人々の想像のなかに生きていた架空の野獣や空想の生き物たちが、彼の創造のなかに現れています。

ボス(BOSCH)の65枚のカードは、「快楽の園」の完全な再現。１枚ずつ見ると、それぞれのカードが、細部まで詳細なミニチュア版となった名作です。パズルのピースのように、カードとカードを並べて１枚の作品（91×52センチ）にすれば、全体的な構成のなかで、それぞれのイメージがさらに際立ちます。
